Gr2 Titanium Coil

 

We use raw materials to prepare, and the main raw material of Gr2 titanium coil is high-purity titanium sponge. After the vacuum self-consuming arc melts or the electron beam melts, it melts 2-3 times to ensure a uniform chemical composition. Titanium ingots are then formed, which are subjected to thermal processing and forging the titanium ingots into thin plates for subsequent rolling. Under high-temperature hot rolling, the thickness gradually decreases, so that the titanium plate is gradually formed.

 

It is then further thinned by cold rolling at lower temperatures to improve surface quality and mechanical properties. During the cold rolling process, annealing is performed to eliminate work hardening and improve ductility. Finally, pickling is used to remove oxides from the surface, giving it a uniform pickling surface. Finally, according to the size required by the customer, the large plate is cut or the titanium plate is rolled into titanium coil for easy storage and transportation.

The production process of Gr2 titanium strip coil involves several key links, combined with its material properties and industrial needs, the main process is as follows:

1. Raw material preparation and pretreatment

Hot-rolled coil treatment: Hot-rolled coils with (3~6)mm×(600~1600)mm specifications are used to improve the yield through patchwork welding and lead belt connection (butt welding of pure titanium material, mechanical riveting of non-pure titanium material).

Surface cleaning: The "mechanical descaling + mixed acid pickling" process is used to remove the oxide layer formed after hot rolling.

2. Cold rolling processing

Rolling equipment: A multi-roll mill with small diameter working rolls is selected to roll under high tension conditions to cope with the anisotropy of titanium.

Parameter control: The compressibility of cold rolling is ≤ 30% (8-12% of the deformation is recommended for passes) to avoid excessive deformation and the decline of material properties.

3. Annealing and finishing

Vacuum annealing: The finished product needs to be vacuum annealed (Ar gas protection) at 650-750°C to ensure surface quality and eliminate internal stress.

Flattening and straightening: Optimize the plate shape and surface state through the leveling and straightening process to meet the subsequent processing requirements.

4. Rolling and packaging

Slitting and slitting: The process of "clipping-slitting-directional separation-platen-coiling" is used to accurately shear the wide titanium strip into multiple narrow strips, and the uneven edge part is cut off by disc shears.

Unwinding and unwinding: After the narrow belt is wound, it is unwinded by the reel trolley support, bundled and fastened and packaged.

Key process points

Welding technology: GTA welding requires pure argon protection (flow rate 15-20L/min), post-welding pickling treatment (5%HF+30% HNO₃ solution).

Cost control: Lead tape reuse and splicing process significantly reduce raw material waste.

This process combines the advantages of high strength (tensile strength 345-550MPa) and plasticity (elongation ≥20%) of Gr2 titanium alloy, and is suitable for corrosion resistance needs in chemical, marine and other fields.
