ASTM B265 Gr9 titanium plate is a titanium alloy material that is produced in accordance with ASTM B265 standard.The chemical composition of Gr9 titanium plate contains 3% aluminum, 2.5% vanadium and 0.25% iron .The standard corresponds to the Chinese grade TA18 (Ti-3Al-2.5V). As a medium-strength α-β titanium alloy, it has excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, and good mechanical properties, so it is used in aerospace, chemical equipment and other industrial fields widely.
The alloy's significant advantage lies in its combination of high strength and low density, and meanwhile it offers greater high-temperature resistance than Ti Gr2 (grade 2 titanium). Processing approach of Gr9 titanium plate
1. Cold processing: suitable for parts manufacturing requiring high precision and surface quality, such as cold drawing, cold rolling, cold heading, etc.
2.Hot processing: It is carried out under high temperature conditions, such as hot forging, hot rolling and hot forming, etc., which is suitable for the manufacture of large materials or complex shapes.
3.Aging treatment: Usually performed at 500°C to 650°C, used to adjust the properties and organizational structure of the material.
4. Solution treatment: carried out at a higher temperature, the purpose is to dissolve the supersaturated solid solution in the alloy to prepare for subsequent treatment.
5. Annealing treatment: It is carried out at a temperature lower than that of solution treatment to eliminate residual stress and improve processing performance.
6. Welding: It can be carried out by TIG welding, MIG welding or electron beam welding and other methods, with high joint strength, good corrosion resistance and fatigue performance.
7. Machining: including milling, drilling, turning, etc., need to pay attention to choosing the right cutting tools and parameters.
8. Edm: suitable for complex shape and high-precision workpiece processing requirements.
