Gr2 Ti Titanium Plate And Sheet

Titanium Gr2 (or written Grade 2) is a type of industrially pure titanium, corresponding to the TA2 grade in the Chinese national standard.

Gr2 is a grade in international standards (e.g. ASTM B265), which corresponds to TA2 in China, and belongs to α-phase industa pure titanium.

Main components: titanium (Ti) ≥ 99%, impurity elements are strictly limited (such as iron (Fe) ≤ 0.30%, carbon (C) ≤ 0.10%, nitrogen (N) ≤ 0.05%).

Trace oxygen (O) can improve strength, but the content needs to be controlled to avoid negative effects.

Physical and mechanical properties

Density: 4.43-4.51 g/cm³ (room temperature), very little change at high temperature.

Strength: Tensile strength of about 539 MPa, yield strength of 550 MPa, combining the advantages of light weight and high strength.

Coefficient of thermal expansion: about 5.0×10^-6 /°C at room temperature, 6.0×10^-6 /°C at high temperature (500°C), outstanding dimensional stability.

Gr2 titanium plate is a high-performance material. At present, its manufacturing technology is constantly improving, such as 3D printing technology, composite material technology, etc., which will greatly improve its performance and application range. At the same time, the production cost is expected to fall further, so that it can be more widely used in the civilian field in the future.

Compared with Grade 1 and Grade 3 titanium alloys, it strikes a balance between strength and plasticity. Grade 1 titanium alloy is softer and more suitable for deep stamping with high technical requirements. Grade 3 titanium alloy is more corrosion-resistant and suitable for high magazine environments. However, compared with grade 5 titanium alloy, its strength is lower, its cost is lower, and its formability is better. It is suitable for non-bearing corrosion-resistant scenarios.

Although Gr2 titanium plate has many advantages, with the development of science and technology, more new materials may be available in the future. These new materials may surpass Gr2 titanium plates in some ways, but their application cost, processability and other factors will affect their actual application. Therefore, Gr2 titanium plate will still maintain an important position in various high-end industries for a long time to come.
